The Ferrari 275 GTB/C (Competizione) that raced with car number 26 at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans was a specialized racing evolution of the standard 275 GTB, built to bridge the gap between street legal luxury and track performance.
During the 1966 event, car number 26 faced a grueling challenge in the GT category as it fought through a high rate of attrition across the field. Despite showing strong pace and a resilient performance throughout the first half of the race, the car was unfortunately forced into retirement during the 15th hour following a mechanical failure that resulted in a terminal crash at the Tertre Rouge corner.
