After qualifying P6—his lowest grid result of the 2026 season due to an electronic glitch— Hamilton’s Japanese Grand Prix 2026 was defined by extreme energy management. He capitalized on a Safety Car (triggered by Oliver Bearman) to move into podium fight but he had not the same pace of the other competitors, ending in sixth position.
Hamilton’s 2026 season is already a significant improvement over his podium-less 2025 campaign. He enters the European leg of the season with 41 points, currently 4th in the standings.
