Born in 1957, it became immediately a very popular car thanks to a smart design and reduct dimensions. It was intended to be an affordable step up for the Italian working class.
The "D" was the most successful version of the early 500s because it combined technical improvements like the foldable sunroof,rear bench seat (the first version has only 2 seats) and the iconic doors which opened toward the rear of the car.
